Who am I?

This fundamental question is asked ultimately by every person ever born. What is this great mystery of human life? What is our origin, and what is our destiny?

As Catholics, informed by Sacred Scripture (God’s Word) and the great gifts of reason and human experience (Man’s understanding), we propose the following points to serve as a kind of manual on this mission of self-discovery.

Before landing the role of Aidan Waite on the show Being HumanDoomsday on Smallville or the countless voice acting roles for the Star Wars franchise, Sam Witwer was a role-playing, sci-fi loving, bass-slapping, trenchcoat-wearing punk from the northern suburbs of Chicago… known to his peers as Stew. How do we know this? Because Mike Mangione and Stew were neighbors. Join them as they discuss the bands, shows, car rides, influences and drama they have shared together as well their current work and the purpose behind it in this episode of Time & The Mystery: Conversations with Sam Witwer

GUEST POST: “13 Reasons Why” We Should Be Learning, Living and Sharing John Paul II’s Theology of the Body

13 resaons why 1

[Guest Post by John Paul West]

When I first heard about Netflix’s controversial new show 13 Reasons Why, the charge that it glorified suicide and encouraged copycat behavior was enough for me not to want to watch it. Then my brother, whose judgment I trust, urged me to watch it because of how insightfully it portrayed the lives of most modern teenagers. After watching the first few episodes, I agree with him: but for some slight exaggerations, it’s the story of the pain I saw everyday in public high school.

The amount of talent, work and grit required to qualify for the Olympics has always fascinated Mike Mangione. Despite lacking all three qualities, Mike has always attributed his lack of Olympic success on his being vertically limited. Well … that excuse was destroyed when Mike met professional runner, two-time Olympian, 1,500-meter silver medalist and fellow human of 5’5″ stature, Leo Manzano. Leo’s story is nothing short of inspirational. With mounds of raw talent and determination, Leo went from starting his running career in hiking boots and jeans to wearing his own brand of shoe, gracing the side of a Coke can and taking silver at the 2012 Games in London. On a warm December afternoon in Texas, Leo took time from training to sit with Mike and dive into the Time & Mystery of his remarkable career and life. Join us at the table for this two-part saga … Time & The Mystery: Conversations with Leo Manzano.

Most assume the musician touring lifestyle is a dream … even glamorous at times. What people often don’t realize is the tremendous amount of sacrifice it requires, and even more so if the artist has a family. Miles Nielsen knows this sacrifice all too well both as a father and as the son of Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen. Join Mike and Miles as they discuss this lifestyle, why they do it and how to make the most of it in this episode of Time & The Mystery: Conversations with Miles Nielsen.
