What We're Doing
Special Formation from TOBI Teachers
During our four full days in Mexico City, we will receive daily formation from the Theology of the Body Institute Team, led by Christopher West and Jen Settle. We will celebrate private Masses together and spend special time preparing to visit the Tilma of St. Juan Diego at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe on our final day!
Rich Catholic History of Mexico
We'll experience the colorful celebration of the faith in Mexico. We'll celebrate Mass in stunning churches and visit sites deeply woven into the history of Mexico, including the Mexico Revolution in the early 20th century that led to many Catholic martyrs and a resurgence of the faith. We'll visit the tomb of Blessed Miguel Pro (pictured above), who was martyred in 1927, as well as the tomb of Bishop Zumarraga, to whom St. Juan Diego presented his tilma that unveiled the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Ancient
Mexico

We'll visit the legendary pyramids of Teotihuacan, where a culture of death was converted to a culture of life thanks to the millions of conversions to Christianity by Our Lady of Guadalupe. We'll also spend time in the beautiful city center, Zocalo Square, and look at art and artifacts through the Theology of the Body lens at the fascinating Metropolitan Museum.
Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our pilgrimage builds to our final full day, Oct. 22, the Feast of St. John Paul II — who held a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and visited the Shrine several times. He called Our Lady of Guadalupe "Star of the first and the new evangelization of America." Following preparation by Christopher West in the basilica square, we will celebrate Mass inside, visit the Tilma and have free time to explore Tepeyac Hill (where the apparitions took place), stroll the beautiful gardens, and spend time in the basilica in prayer.
After an amazing journey to Mexico City in 2016,
we're going back!

Mark your calendars from Oct. 18-23. Father Michael Nixon, the Theology of the Body Institute team of Christopher West, Jason Clark, Jen Settle and Bill Howard and outstanding guides will lead you on a journey around Mexico City learning of rich Catholic history and the ancient cultures that ruled until the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531 changed the course of Mexican (and global) civilization.

Our time there will be filled with faith, food and fun. It will culminate on Oct. 22, the Feast of St. John Paul II, with a day at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe to celebrate Mass as a group, spend the day with the tilma and visit the expansive and beautiful grounds around the shrine.

We will be announcing our chaplain very soon, and he will celebrate daily Masses and offer times for confession and spiritual direction. Pilgrims will receive daily formation on the profound connection between Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Theology of the Body. You will come to learn the many symbols, the hidden meaning of the tilma as a kind of icon of the theology of the body, and also a profound lesson for the New Evangelization: How do we reach the modern world with the gospel? The tilma provides a critical insight into that very important question.
