Today marks three years since my beloved professor, friend, and mentor Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete went to his eternal reward (and to be reunited with his personal friend, Saint John Paul II). If you’ve watched my new short film you know how important my nearly 20 year friendship with him was. There is just no way to put in words what this man meant to me.
I was thrilled to learn recently of a new forum that exists to keep his very important and valuable legacy alive. If I could bi-locate, I would dedicate my second life to this as a full-time endeavor myself. That’s how important I consider it. This man was a friend and consultant to two popes (John Paul II and Benedict XVI) and, in the opinion of many, a mystic. But don’t let that make you think he had his head in the clouds. He was the most down to earth, hilarious man I ever met. One minute he’d have you pondering the most profound mysteries of the universe and the next he’d have you clamping your various sphincters to prevent spillage from uproarious laughter.
If you’d like just a taste of this man’s unrepeatable humanity, here’s his appearance on the Charlie Rose Show when Pope Benedict XVI was elected.
The Albacete Forum is at the very beginning stages of organizing and archiving his collection of writings, photographs, lectures, videos, etc., with a view to publishing his works and allowing current and future generations to benefit from the amazing gift a modern mystic.
May I also ask you to consider donating a tax-deductible gift to this incredibly valuable cause?
If you knew Monsignor Albacete or was influenced by his writings, please share on Facebook and Twitter.

For such a time as this have we been given Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. By taking us beyond the alternatives of prudish repression and damaging indulgence, the Theology of the Body opens the path to the redemption of sexuality and the real healing of our wounds.
